Terms and conditions
Confirmation of participation
Your participation will be confirmed by us at English UK and will be made definitive by issuance of a confirmation email and invoice, at which stage participation is considered as binding and the terms and conditions will apply. We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to reject an application without assigning a reason.
Payment terms
Payment must be received within 30 days of invoice. You cannot submit your teaching and learning portfolio for moderation before full payment has been received.
What the fee includes
The fee covers:
- provision of the programme materials
- access to the Brightspace learning management system (LMS)
- moderation of the teaching and learning portfolio.
Only the declared trainee can participate in the programme and substitutes are not permitted.
If you change your place of employment while enrolled on the AccessTEFL programme, or wish to complete your training and language portfolio tasks at more than one language centre, you must inform English UK in writing before submitting your portfolio.
You have a maximum of nine months to complete the portfolio. You can request one formal break to allow you to pause and restart the programme, extending the maximum completion time to 18 months from the date of registration. Requests for a formal break must be made in writing to English UK within nine months of the start of the programme. Requests made more than nine months after the start of the programme will not be considered and you may be required to restart the programme.
Once submitted, your teaching and learning portfolio will be reviewed and moderated within two weeks of submission.
If you need to resubmit your teaching and learning portfolio because tasks or sections are missing the required evidence, or it does not meet the required standard to pass, you can do this once for free. We will charge an additional fee of £150 for second or subsequent resubmissions.
Online submission
You will submit your training and learning portfolio online. If you are unable to access the LMS, we will endeavour to provide a solution where we have direct control over the system, software or settings involved. If the issue lies with your hardware, systems, software, connectivity, settings, etc., we may help you resolve the issue but cannot guarantee that any assistance will be successful.
You also accept that we cannot be held responsible for any delay or disruption to your access to the LMS because of the following:
- the operation of the internet and/or your connection to it
- any firewall restrictions on your network or the computer you are using to access the training
- failures of telecommunications links and equipment
- any similar issues.
Qualification and certification
The AccessTEFL qualification will be awarded if the trainee submits the full training and learning portfolio including observations and a minimum of 80 hours of teaching, and successfully passes moderation within the required timeframe.
We will provide certificates for successful trainees within two weeks of qualification.
Cancellation policy/ withdrawal by trainee
Any notice of cancellation or withdrawal must be sent in writing to us at English UK. We will not refund fees once the teaching and learning portfolio has been submitted for moderation. We will refund 50% of the fees if you cancel or withdraw before the teaching and learning portfolio has been submitted and within nine months of acceptance onto the programme.
If you have a complaint
If you have a complaint regarding the service provided in relation to your AccessTEFL qualification, please follow the process in our complaints procedure.
We will always acknowledge where things could have been done better and tell you what we will do to avoid the same thing happening again. Equally, if we do not agree with your complaint, we will let you know why.
If you are not satisfied with the service or level of support from your employer/ language centre, you should approach them directly and follow their internal HR policies for complaints or grievances. We are not responsible for any disputes between you, the trainee, and your supervising language centre.
