Newsletter of the WU Executive Academy – Vienna University of Economics and Business
NEWSLETTER EDITION 9: DECEMBER 2020

Dear reader!

Today more than ever, managers know they should invest in their (mental) resilience to make it through a crisis and, even more importantly, maintain enough freedom to act. At the same time, it’s a common misunderstanding that leadership resilience is all it takes to get through a crisis unharmed. Instead, it is much better to have business resilience, meaning the entire company's resilience. Helga Pattart-Drexler and Vladimir Preveden have taken a closer look at what makes enterprises truly resilient, the role of digital technologies, and whether it is possible to achieve business resilience during a crisis.

Blockchain: the most valuable sequence in the world. What used to be the playground of a handful of crypto-nerds has turned into an acclaimed and successful technology in the course of the past years. Companies around the world focusing on this technology are wondering: will they be able to successfully put blockchain to use, and if so, how? Prof. Alfred Taudes, Head of WU’s Research Institute for Cryptoeconomics, has analyzed the cases where blockchain is particularly well suited. Check out the practical checklist on implementing it.

Happy reading, happy holidays and stay healthy!
