"Innovate Manufacturing" is the topic of this year's EMO and thus exactly hits the core of our company claim "Smart Manufacturing Solutions".
At this year's EMO, the world's leading trade show for metalworking (September 18-23, 2023 in Hanover, Germany), we will be presenting two trade show innovations in Hall 12 at Booth C04: the CNC machining center BA W03-22 with two spindles as well as the BA profile, a new machine concept for machining profiles. In addition, our currently largest machine, the BA space3 for the machining of battery housings. You will get exclusive insights into current trends in manufacturing such as friction stir welding and giga casting.
You can get a small foretaste in the video.
Productivity, flexibility, modularity and connectivity are the most important factors for us to be able to meet challenges in the fast-growing field of e-mobility, among others, with efficient system solutions. The best example of this is the new BA W03-22 CNC machining center. Thanks to high precision and efficiency, the two-spindle machine is ideal for the production of high-quality workpieces in medium and large series for the automotive industry, such as the Scroll compressor. The Scroll workpiece enables efficient cooling of the motor, which improves the performance and service life of the electric motor, for example. In addition, the Scroll helps to reduce the noise of the electric motor by controlling the airflow and vibrations inside the motor.
Compared to a single-spindle machine, cycle times can be reduced many times over, ensuring maximum productivity. With linear motors built into the machine, even faster axis accelerations are possible. Not only can this reduce your CO2 emissions - it also gives you more dynamics and speed compared to a ball screw like the BA 322 model, for example with 20 percent faster chip-to-chip times. With 300 mm of travel, the BA W03-22 also positions 30 percent faster than the BA 322 in G0. The machine is the first from SW to be equipped with the Siemens Sinumerik One control.
A further highlight in Hanover is the new BA profile. With this machining center, profiles made of various materials for the truck and automotive industry, among others, can be machined up to a length of 2,500 mm without any problems. The two-spindle machine in compact design has two work areas and enables a parallel machining on two work tables per side. Loading is carried out either by means of automation or ergonomically manually.
With the BA space3, we will also be exhibiting the largest machine in our portfolio at the trade show.
It is particularly suitable for machining large battery housings and numerous structural components that are required for the growing e-vehicle market, as well as in the aerospace or agricultural industries - the keyword is gigacasting: Instead of a large number of individual parts that are welded or bolted together, a few large components are used, each cast and machined from a single piece. For example, underbodies, subframes or entire front frames are produced for the construction of electric vehicles. Our FloorRob loads and unloads the BA space3 at the booth.
In combination with the FloorRob, the BA space3 forms an automated system solution that is perfectly matched to each other.
