Leiden Slavist in Ukraine: ‘My love for Russia has faded’

To read Chekhov in the ‘original’. That was what motivated Arie van der Ent to study Slavic languages and literature with Karel van het Reve at Leiden University. ‘My love for Chekhov hasn’t faded, but it has for the rest of Russia.’

'Our minds are elsewhere'

Daniela and Oksana come from Ukraine and are studying in Leiden. Since 24 February – the night Putin began bombing Ukraine – their lives have changed completely. They told us about their experiences and the importance of the LUF Emergency Fund for students.

Parallels between quarrelling animals and humans

The journal Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society – Biological Sciences published ‘Conflict across taxa’, which was edited by Professor Carsten de Dreu. Together with other researchers he provides more insight into group conflict in humans and various animal species.
