Researchers from all disciplines work hard to find answers and to innovate in the field of artificial intelligence.

Award to connect science and industry

Plant scientist Omid Karami is the first winner of the Krijn Rietveld Memorial Innovation Award, an initiative of Leiden University Fund and Royal DSM. Karami discovered a gene that allows annual plants to grow after flowering, instead of dying. The jury praises the outstanding quality of his research as well as the positive societal impact and commercial potential.

New: Leiden Alumni China group

Recently, the group Leiden Alumni China has been set up by Carmen Bakas and her colleagues Dan Xu and Zi Wang. They wrote an article “Leiden alumni abroad in times of Corona”. After receiving many enthusiastic reactions they decided to set up a Leiden Alumni China group to interact and connect. Friday 19 June they’ll meet!
