Alumna Anouk van Oss wants a sustainable fashion industry

Fashion is a common thread running through alumna Anouk van Oss’s life. From a young age, fashion was a way for her to express herself. That was until she discovered how problematic the fashion industry is. She decided to focus on sustainability in her studies and hopes at some point to become a sustainability manager at a big fashion house.

Zelensky addresses our students: 'Live your own life, but do so together with others'

A standing ovation. A wave and a smile from the president. A final selfie. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky addressed Leiden and The Hague students for the first time on Tuesday morning 12 September via a livestream in The Hague.

Depressed teens appear to be extra sensitive to parental criticism

‘You’re so messy! Tidy up your room.’ ‘Why are you so lazy today? Go and do your homework’: criticism is never nice to hear. But for some teens it hits extra hard, research by PhD candidate Lisanne van Houtum has shown.

Rather than go on holiday this summer, a group of biology students shut themselves away in a windowless lab. They were working on a solution to the world’s plastics problem by getting bacteria to make biodegradable plastic.
