‘Leiden inspired me to try to change the situation here’

Alumni and researchers met at two well-attended alumni dinners in Yogyakarta and Jakarta. The alumni reminisced about their time in Leiden and got to see their lecturers once again.

Donation preserves collection author Judge Dee

The family of the famous diplomat, sinologist and writer Robert van Gulik has donated his personal archive and part of his collection to Leiden University Libraries. The collection and archive provide insight into the life and work of Van Gulik, known for his Judge Dee novels.

Finally signing the walls of the Sweat Room

An online ceremony, no party and then no signature in the Sweat Room: during the pandemic, many graduation traditions could not take place. Alumni who graduated with a master’s degree in this time are welcomed back to sign their name.
