Alumnus Charlotte Poot developed a hospital app for children

Charlotte Poot (31) studied and obtained her PhD at the LUMC. She is co-founder and chair of the app 'Hospital Hero': 'This app gives children an idea of what to expect before their hospital visit’, she explains, ‘so they can avoid some of their fear and anxiety.'

Mismatched timing: how climate change challenges bird migration

How does climate change affect the migration routes of birds? Mainly negatively, according to a new study from Yali Si (CML). ‘It changes the timing of natural events differently in each region,’ she explains. ‘This can lead to a growing mismatch between the availability of food and the supposed arrival of the birds in a certain area.'

Support Scholars at Risk

Paul Wouters is professor of Scientometrics and Dean of the Leiden University Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences. At his farewell on 1 March he would like all to donate generously towards to the support of scholars and scientists who are persecuted or silenced by the bodies in power in their country.
