Crowdfunding for parents PhD student

On 17 January astronomy PhD student Maolin Zhang tragically died in a house fire in Leiden. Maolin’s parents are farmers in an underdeveloped region in China. In addition to their intense grief they are now also facing an uncertain financial future because of the loss of their only child. Friends and colleagues have set up a crowdfunding.

Innovative approach to antibiotic resistance

Resistance to antibiotics is a major problem in health care. Thanks to a grant from the Elise Mathilde Fund and the Leiden University Fund, supported bij alumni donations, pharmacologist dr. Coen van Hasselt can look for new dosing schedules to reduce the development of antibiotic resistance.
